T-Shaped Reading Unit- Journeys

Write answers to these questions after you have read each text.

These words may help you to reflect on kinds of journeys:  journey, quest, exploration, voyage, trip, trek, excursion, expedition, pilgrimage, mission.

	What kind of journey has taken place?   Explain.	What was the purpose of this Journey?	What challenges did the character face?
Kensuke’s Kingdom.	A voyage because it is a long journey by sea.	To experience what it would be like to live on a boat and travel the world.	Facing the big storms while traveling on the sailboat. Washing up on an island and trying to find somewhere to sleep, food and water.
Iris and Dogstar.	This journey is also a voyage because it takes days to get from place to place by water.	To go fishing and travel to Noumea and spend time with their family.	They didn't get much sleep. The rough seas and getting sea sick.
Not so normal.	It is a mission because it is travelling from planet to planet.	To travel to Earth and check the resources.	A cow ate Normals spaceship. At the end of the story Normal got squashed. People were being mean to him about his name.
Underground Explorers.	This journey is an exploration.	To go underground and prove that the bulmer cavern is bigger than they thought.	Sleeping in small spaces and being in the cold.
